Software Engineer: Data Visualization

We are looking for a lead Software Engineer to help define and implement new visualization approaches for large-scale data.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Defining the user model and user interface for new interactive data navigation capabilities and data access features
- Developing detailed prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
- Implementing large-scale data access modules
Position requirements include:
- Solid academic background in computer science with specialization in human-computer interaction or related field (MS in Computer Science a plus).
- 5+ years experience in application and/or systems programming.
- Demonstrated experience in designing usable user interfaces or human factors engineering.
- Excellent knowledge of GUI rapid prototyping software, C/C++ and Java (J2EE).
- Strong visual design sense.
- Preferred experience with Linux kernel/open source software systems.
Other requirements:
- Experience in designing and programming large scale, distributed systems, information retrieval algorithms, network programming
- Creative problem-solving attitude
